Life... Mount Vic and Me, renovating and postcards by Theo
Very neglectful of me - better stop in and say hi! Life has been busy with changes to our house - the renovation to the bathroom is complete as well as floating floors and a new door, hearth and fireplace.Theo has created her first postcard - a short run of 50. We decided to do it after the set up of my new business Mount Vic and Me (more of that later). She had two pieces of artwork: a beautiful detailed sunflower and a starry night picture with two people and a horse and wanted to create a postcard. I put the two illustrations together and included her signature (very Miro-like) and she art directed what colour she would like. I think it's just gorgeous! Wondering if I can sell them and give her a small cut... bit cheeky?
The new bathroom is DIVINE! Such a change from what we had and such a pleasure to have a bath in now! We had the old pedestal sink and bath re-enamelled and I designed the tiles. We used vintage hearth tiles as an inset on the bathtub too. It was a bit of a challenge for hubby - he had such a combination to do and cut but I think the results are amazing. What do you think?
And if you have any stockist ideas in the Mountains, let me know. Ta. x

Nelly RIP
Ball mad in 2009
Tonight we said good bye to my darling dog Nelly. She's been with me from 2000 - 2013 and has lived with me in Sydney, Darwin, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Helensburgh and the Blue Mountains. She hasn't been right for a couple of days and I am devastated tonight to think she's gone.
Nelly with both my daughters - 2009 and 2011
Nelly had some lumps on her chest which have turned out to be tumours. We decided not to continue checking any further and let her go. She was a ball mad dog and it doesn't make sense to push a dog who's quality of life is suffering.
So... understandably... I can't stop crying. She's been with me through so much. Two relationship breakups, two children, lived all over Australia with me and has travelled more than most Australians. The other States she hadn't been to was WA and Tasmania.
RIP Nelly old girl.

Ta da!
Finally finally finally - my cards are done.
All that procrastination: who am I? How do I describe my business etc? I came to a solution and stuck with it AND designed and got the bloody things printed.
I am now considering business number 3 and have chosen NOT to call it Kara Smith. Probably a sensible idea as it's even confusing me - especially as Smith is not even my surname anymore since getting married in 2010!
More on business number 3 another post. Other than that, life is good. We've had a ton of rain this January and our garden is going gangbusters. I have a lot of design projects on. We are all happy and healthy. So yeah... I haven't had much time to talk about it all.
Hope you are well.
