A quilt in the making

I am making a quilt for my baby girl's cot - and wanted to share the progress. There are a lot of beautiful scraps that I have lying around, just too small to make handbags with, but perfect for something like this.

The quilt I've designed uses a larger block and a smaller rectangular shape. I think I'm going to back it with pink polar fleece - the pink is a colour that is predominant through all the scraps.

At one point I thought I'd put a zip and make it so a wool quilt could go inside. It's so cold here in the Mountains that this would work well... but I want it to be used year round!

I think I am in love...

Cushions are something I love - I have a collection of odd ones here that I like - and nothing matches or 'works' to a theme... and that's how I like it!

Birthday

Theo eating her breakfast this morning.

On Monday I celebrated my 36th birthday - gulp, getting old! My partner, Steven, was overseas for work in sunny Budapest then Paris so I decided to have a bit of a bash. It was a lot of fun - crazy with babies and people but I really enjoyed myself.


Other than that, life is good. Theo keeps me busy and last night was the first night she slept soundly - 6pm to 6am!!!! I am actually quite tired today and can only put it down to too much sleep!

My fabric stores sit here and mock me. I would love to dive into them and get some great new things happening... but when?

Today Theo is 6 months old!

Watching her smile, roll (yes, finally getting into rolling) and chortle is just such a delight.

It's been a wonderfully tiring, inspiring and loving road so far and I look forward to the next 6 months, baby girl.

Kindness

Motherhood is a tough job. Very tough and very demanding - the hardest job I've had to date. Do you get my drift? I seem to be on a roll here...

I am so lucky to have a bunch of fantastic Mothers' here who have taken it upon themselves to help me every day that I need. So I get an hour off to go to bed while they babysit Theo. Now, they still have their own little one to deal with so I am pretty darn lucky. I hope when I get settled that I can return the favour - and it's nice to know we have years to come to help and share with each other.

I get asked, "Hows business going? What are you doing". The answer is not much. Each day I am taking it in my stride to see how we go with Theo's naps and getting into a routine. My partner leaves each morning at 5:30am and returns 7:30pm. That is extremely hard for him too as he misses out on seeing Theo most weekdays with those hours.

So 'thank you' to the girls who help me and support me in friendship and to my beautiful daughter Theo for keeping me on my toes and making me laugh every day!
